Hypotension, What Is That?

If hypertension is blood pressure above 120/80, then hypotension (low blood pressure) would be pressure below 120/80. The danger for high blood pressure is obvious, because of the increased strain on the heart and blood vessels, but what are the dangers of low blood pressure?

The main risk factors on the body include chronic dizziness, fainting, and an increased risk of injury from falls (often related to dizziness or fainting). Obviously having low blood pressure means that the blood isn't being pumped as efficiently through the body, and the less blood that's being pumped means the less oxygen the organs are getting. Over time, this can serious damage the quality of life or even kill a person. If you suffer from any of the following, you may have hypotension:

Dizziness or lightheadedness
Fainting (syncope)
Lack of concentration
Blurred vision
Nausea
Cold, clammy, pale skin
Rapid, shallow breathing
Fatigue
Depression
Thirst
