Blood Pressure, Me, and the Many Types of Medications

When I was 21 years old, I went to the doctor, and found that my blood pressure was 135/95. It was high, but not REALLY HIGH, but they decided to go ahead and medicate, so I went with it. I was on Lisinopril for awhile (an ACE Inhibitor), but it was giving me headaches, so I had to stop. My doctor was averse to putting me on BETA Blockers, which slow the heart down, because of a large possibility of side effects in young adults.

So I went unmedicated for the better part of two years, and when I went back to the doctor, my blood pressure was 150/108, which caused the doctor to take attention. She put me on Benicar HCT, and I like it. The main side effect for me is that I have a hard time going to sleep. I started taking the medicine in the morning, but the main issue with that is that I forgot a lot. The point is that when it comes to blood pressure medication, there are thousands of possibilities, and you don't have to settle for the first one you try. If there are any side effects that you don't like, then get another medicine.
